The John Newton Templeton Scholars Program is a comprehensive scholarship program designed for academically-talented students. The Templeton Scholars Program honors John Newton Templeton, Ohio University’s first African American graduate (Class of 1828) and his legacy with an emphasis on academic excellence, leadership, and campus and community involvement at Ohio University. The four-year renewable scholarship covers in-state tuition and room and board costs. Students must be admitted to Ohio University prior to consideration for the program.

  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • 30 credits per year
  • 24 Hours Community Service
  • Meet 3 times per semester with OMSAR advisor
